Jerry has over 18 years of experience leading, operating, and investing in innovative healthcare startups, and he knows what it takes to have a successful launch. As a general partner and founding member of Path4 Ventures, he organized a joint effort with Austin Ventures in 2004 to invest in Spinal Restoration and LDR Spine, both of which are now successful and growing companies. At Path4 Ventures, he also pioneered the kind of management-centric approach that we are expanding on with the creation of TEXO Ventures. Recently, Jerry helped launch Ortho Kinematics, an exciting spinal diagnostic company, as an Operating Venture Partner with PTV Sciences, a venture and growth equity firm with approximately $300M under management.
While Jerry still actively monitors Path4’s two investments (Spinal Restoration and LDR Spine), he launched TEXO Ventures in August 2009 with long-time healthcare investor, Philip Sanger, M.D. and Kauffman Fellow and healthcare entrepreneur Randall Crowder. TEXO Ventures continues the tradition of Path4 by focusing on early stage healthcare investments but with wider interests.
Jerry provides TEXO's companies with the kind of guidance that comes from many lessons learned as a seasoned entrepreneur and investor. He collaborates with TEXO's entrepreneurs on all tasks critical to commercializing innovative healthcare technologies — from navigating the regulatory approval process to devising sales and go-to-market strategies.
As an investor, he doesn’t expect entrepreneurs to have all the answers but rather the prudence to realize when they don’t.
With over 15 years in medical device companies alone, Jerry has served in a variety of roles, including Head of Global Business Development, Vice President of Marketing, Manager of Facilities Engineering, Director of Operations Analysis, Director of Organizational Development, and Chief Operating Officer of two medical device startups. He also has a background in technology, having worked for Texas Instruments in a variety of engineering and supervisory positions. Jerry currently sit on the boards of Ortho Kinematics, Spinal Restoration, and Intercede Health.
