Steve Whitlock was formerly the Vice President of Research and Development for Centerpulse Orthopedics and Sulzer Medica, which was acquired by Zimmer in 2003. Whitlock has 15 years orthopedics experience.

In Whitlock’s tenure with Centerpulse, he held various Senior-level Executive Management positions in Research, Technology Assessment, Product Development and Product Marketing that included domestic and global responsibilities in the areas of total joints, sports medicine, trauma and orthobiologics.

As a member of the Centerpulse product recall executive team, Whitlock directed efforts through problem identification, failure analysis, solution and recovery. He was also instrumental in bringing many technology breakthroughs to the U.S. orthopaedic market, including the UniSpacer™ Knee System. Whitlock holds 5 issued patents and several pending patents.

Whitlock was a founding member of U.S. Medical Products, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of orthopaedic implants. He served as Vice President of Engineering, and was directly involved in raising funds through both private placement and public stock offerings of the company. Whitlock holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering degree from Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
